When a barking dog is within the area covered by the PetSafe outdoor bark control system, an internal microphone detects the sound produced and the unit is activated. The PetSafe Outdoor Bark Control System emits ultrasonic sound. Only dogs can hear the ultrasonic sound. Startled by this high-pitched noise, the dog will associate barking with this unpleasant sound and will stop barking.
