How the system works: When a barking dog is within the area covered by the PetSafe indoor bark control system, an internal microphone picks up the sound. The device then automatically emits ultrasound that is audible to dogs but inaudible to most humans. Startled by this high-pitched sound, the dog should stop barking. Over time, the dog will associate its barking with this unpleasant sound. When the dog stops barking, the emission of ultrasound also stops. The device is effective up to 8 meters.
