Characteristics :
• New multilayer lens coating
• New coating for light transmission
• Waterproof and nitrogen-purged (JIS Class 6)
• Highly reflective prism with special prism treatment
• Rubber finish
• Comfortable eye relief and minimum focus
• Internal focusing
• Retractable eyecups
• New multilayer lens coating
• The multilayer lens coating allows better transmission of light through the lenses and prevents the risk of flare and ghost images (stray light). PENTAX applies multiple coating layers to every lens surface and to the prism across the entire binocular range. This treatment guarantees better light transmission for a clearer view.

New coating for light transmission
The complex optical design of roof-prism binoculars provides reliability and compactness but requires a high level of optical perfection. A special coating on the facets of the roof prism is necessary for maximum viewing quality. PENTAX optimizes this quality by applying a new surface-film technology to the lenses and prism for improved color rendering and brightness.

BaK4 prism
Thanks to its incredible refractive index, the BaK4 glass prism found in all PENTAX binoculars is highly valued for its circular exit pupil and absence of vignetting.

Special prism treatment
For "roof prism" binoculars, the light rays are what restrict light transmission. With this treatment the light rays suffer no loss. Unlike other manufacturers who use this treatment only on their high-end models,
PENTAX applies it to all of its "roof prism" models.

Waterproofing
005_focus_copie.jpg

PENTAX waterproof products are fully sealed and purged with liquid nitrogen in the laboratory, for fog-free viewing in the harshest conditions. With the JIS Class 6 standard, PENTAX waterproof binoculars can even be immersed 1 meter under water.

Construction with internal focusing
This design is ideal for waterproof models that require a completely airtight construction. It also contributes to a maximum reduction in size and weight and improves the center of gravity as well as reliability.

Nitrogen-purged
Nitrogen is a chemical element and a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas. It contains very little moisture and is used to purge binoculars and spotting scopes of the very humid air that is part of our environment. Because of the low moisture factor, nitrogen prevents condensation from forming on the internal lenses of optical instruments during rapid temperature changes. In addition, with the gas sealing made slightly above atmospheric pressure, dust and other tiny particles cannot enter the instrument body.

Long eye relief
The comfortable eye relief that almost all PENTAX binoculars benefit from allows the user to retain the entire field of view clearly and comfortably. This is particularly beneficial for eyeglass wearers and allows long periods of observation without eye strain.

Rubber exterior finish
It provides effective protection against shocks and impacts.
