What is an electronic training collar :
The electronic training collar is an aid to educating your dog. It is a tool intended to help and support you in training your dog. The operating principle of an electronic training collar is simple. Most electronic collars work on the same principle :

1- the dog is warned by one or more warning beeps for its bad behavior
2- if the dog persists in its unwanted and/or disruptive behavior, it then receives a correction.

The correction, depending on the collar model, can occur in different ways :
- by a spray jet (citronella for example)
- by vibrations
- by ultrasounds
- by electrostatic stimulations*

* Collars that emit corrections by electrostatic stimulations do not produce real 'electrical discharges' as such, but electrostatic stimulations. Harmless to the dog and not painful for it, the sensations felt by the animal are more irritating than painful, which will encourage it to stop its bad behaviors.

Usage advice :
A dog can learn basic commands as soon as it reaches the age of 8 weeks. Before considering the use of an electronic training collar, we strongly advise educating your companion in a so-called 'natural' way (praise, petting, rewards, positive reinforcement ...). With a little work and time spent with your dog, you should be able to teach it basic commands, without which life with your companion will be difficult (sit, lie down, walking on a leash, recall ...).

Your dog's education should begin as early as possible, and you should regularly 'maintain' its training to reinforce the commands acquired. An electronic training collar is only a tool to reinforce commands and correct faults and undesirable behaviors.

An electronic collar should not be used on a dog younger than 6 months. Excessive use of electronic training collars can have the opposite effect of the intended one, and lead to behavioral problems.
We strongly recommend that you read the instructions provided in the collar manuals carefully. An electronic collar is indeed a very effective tool, but it is essential to use it correctly.

Use of the training collar for hunting :
The training collar is widely used for hunting dogs. The dog is often far from its owner and all its attention is on the game. It is therefore common that the animal does not respond to commands. The training collar, if the dog understands the commands, is often the solution.

It is frequently used in the following cases :
• Dog recall
• Preventing the dog from hunting too far
• Refusal of certain Game (avoid deer for example)
• Safety: provide a quick and effective recall in case of danger to the animal (roads …)
