in 1927, in a coastal village in normandy in france, claude chamot had the idea to create the most comfortable and suitable pair of rubber boots. today, nearly 100 years later, mr. chamot's vision is still relevant. from the first to the last gesture, these craftsmen continue their know-how in the making of each le chameau pair.
our rubber a number of factors will determine the quality of the rubber, notably the season (spring is the ideal season), but also the purity of the air and the quality of the trees. le chameau uses only category a rubber, light in colour and low in ash and dirt content. this recipe is still based on the original blend of claude chamot, producing a soft, supple and durable rubber, which forms the basis of all our boots.
sole construction for each type of sole, the base sole is made by pouring our rubber into the bottom of a two-part mold. the mold is closed, placed under pressure and cured. as the rubber heats and spreads through the mold, it takes the shape of the sole. different elements are then added to the process, depending on the desired type of sole.
