The KITE 10x30 and 12x30 APC stabilized binoculars bring you the very latest technology in binocular image stabilization.
There are other stabilized binoculars on the market, but none of them compare to the KITE. The most important difference is the correction angle. Most stabilized binoculars offer a correction angle of 0.5° to 1° — which corresponds to a correction of 0.8 to 1.7 meters at a distance of 100 meters. A hand tremor, a windy day, or shortness of breath after a hike will easily produce image instability greater than these values.
KITE APC stabilized binoculars feature new technology that allows the instrument to correct image stability by 3° — i.e. 5.3 meters at a distance of 100 meters or 53 meters at 1,000 meters. That is 6 times more than other stabilized binoculars. This will produce perfectly steady images not only from a trembling hand, but also when mounted in a car or on a boat.
This very compact and lightweight instrument also includes smart features. The electronics are powered by two AA batteries, the most common battery size in the world, and guarantee operation of the instrument for 36 hours. But so that you don’t waste a second of those 36 hours, the KITE APC binoculars are equipped with sensors that automatically put the unit into sleep mode when you are not observing. The APC (angle power control) function detects the positioning. When the instrument is vertical, hanging around your neck, or standing on a surface, it goes into sleep mode. With the first movement, stabilization restarts automatically. No button switching, no accidental battery drain. A timer function ensures it turns off completely after 90 minutes, whatever the position. And a low-battery indicator will tell you when new batteries are needed.
The APC stabilized model is ergonomic thanks to a 4 cm long focus wheel that can be easily used with three fingers.
Although the APC stabilized model looks different, it is as easy to use as any standard pair of binoculars.
The essence of this instrument, of course, lies in its stabilization capability. Optically, it is on the same performance level as the KITE PETREL. However, in all unstable situations — whether caused by tremor, shortness of breath, windy conditions, or aboard a vehicle, etc. — these binoculars outperform the best binoculars in the world, and you will perceive images and details invisible with any standard binoculars. Try them — you’ll see!
The stabilized binoculars are equipped with the KITE APC system (angle power control). Without needing to operate an on/off switch, this system puts the electronics to sleep when the binoculars are in any resting position (hanging at the neck), and reactivates automatically when you resume observing. This results in remarkable battery savings and contributes to user comfort.
With its 2 AA batteries, the stabilization mechanism can be active for up to 36 hours. APC STABILIZED binoculars are also perfectly usable without activating the stabilization mechanism. Regardless of its state (resting or active), after 90 minutes the instrument will automatically shut down to save energy.
